Tarot Key 20 – Judgment

The Card of the Week – Judgment, Key 20

The card of the week was given to me as I was preparing my thoughts about the Wicce, the wise ones.  The card of the week is key 20, or Judgment.  In the Rider-Waite tarot, we see grey figures rising out of graves at the sound of the angel blowing a great trumpet, a wakening the dead.  In this image we can imagine ourselves, arising out of our old habits and belief systems to a new life.  The angel in this image can be seen as our own higher self, calling to us through our own inner knowing, or intuition, to live a new life.

In life, we can seek guidance from counselors, friends, and loved ones.  However, our own inner motivation is key to making any moves away from the comfortable and traditional.  What is it that changes our mind???  Well, one of the most powerful things on Earth is personal experience.  It is said that those people who have had a real near-death experience, no longer fear death.

So, how can an ordinary person have a life changing experience that motivates change?  Well, that is where the power of meditation, intuition and imagination help us.  As we work on our intuition, we gain experiences that show us that we do have this ability, we benefit in our daily life from its presence and we then have experiences that show us we can believe more and more in this ability.  When this happens we have a personal helper of our own higher self with us every minute of every day.  We learn to trust its guidance and our wisdom grows.
